Okay, so this is the beginning. Hacking The Bank is going to document my journey to financial independence. Along the way I’ll be pointing out great deals, talking theory, and basically just figuring things out. My hope is that we can grow together and both achieve what we want.

My goal is to be straight with you. Completely transparent. So, to do so, I guess I should start out with a little about myself. My name is Will and I graduated from college just six months ago (May 2010). I graduated with approximately $50k in student loans. Luckily, unlike some of my friends, I graduated with a job. This job will get me by for now, but it isn’t my passion at all. I realized that almost as soon as I started working, my philosophies about working and life began to shift. Much of this blog is going to be about my exploration of different philosophies about money. There are lots of ideas out there, and I think it’s important to be exposed to a variety in order to determine what’s best for you and I.

In the next couple of days I’ll be posting my net worth (balance sheet), which is currently negative. I’ll be posting this so that you know where I’m coming from. Also, it will make it easy to follow along with my progress. This blog is going to be about you just as much as it is me. I would love for you to interact, challenge me, and report back on your own progress.
