This was another great month for my finances. Not only was it a great month, but it’s been a great 6 months (at least in my opinion) since the end of September. In my mind, that’s when I really got serious about my personal finances, after starting my career at the beginning of September. In the past six months I’ve increased my net worth by almost $25,000! During this time I’ve basically decreased my debt by that amount, while keeping my assets steady. If you’d asked me 6 months ago where I thought I’d be today, it definitely wouldn’t have been where I am now. If you can’t tell, I’m super pumped. I highly recommend tracking your net worth because it really motivates you to make the right choices and propels you forward.

I’m Will, the creator of HackingTheBank. No, this site isn’t about actually hacking banks. This blog is all about maximizing personal finance decisions so that we win instead of the banks.
I started this blog in 2010 when I graduated college with $43k of student loans and a negative net worth. Since then I’ve achieved milestones like getting married, buying a house, and tripling my income. During this time my wife and I managed to earn over 12,000,000 miles and points and used those points to travel to over 50 countries. And all of these points came from banks; neither of us travel for work.
